Summer Concert Series #1 Presents : John David (JD) Arch Jr

Born November 16, 1966, a native of Jackson County and a 1984 graduate of Sylva-Webster High School. My father was a home missionary preacher and went to various churches to preach when needed, I would often sing in those churches. In high school, I joined the high school chorus my senior year and sung in two different musicals. After high school I went to Atlanta Georgia and worked as an electrician attending Clarkston Baptist Church singing in the choir and a men's ensemble. I came back home in 1990 to take care of my father and went to Southwestern Community College (SCC) where I sang in a small community choir. Later that year in December, I joined the U.S. Navy Submarine force and sung in various churches wherever I was stationed. In 1994 I was stationed in Kings Bay Georgia and was the youth leader/musical leader for First Baptist Church Woodbine where I led various concerts over the years while serving on-board the USS Rhode Island SSBN 740, a Trident missile submarine. I retired from military service in 2010 and moved back home the following year where I finally started college and in my freshman year, sang with the Western Carolina University concert choir. I also joined a small community choir in Cherokee and later would start singing with the Western Carolina Community choir which I still sing with today. I love singing and learning history about songs, the environment of when the song was written, the circumstances of the writer, and of course the temperature of the music itself. I have sung mainly gospel music my entire life and just love singing
