About the event

The Big Questions Series
Topic: "Henry Thoreau and the Question of How to Live Morally but Well in an Unjust Society”

Description: How should we live in the face of the terrible injustices in the world? How can we morally pursue our own happiness and wellbeing when others are suffering? Join English Professor Karla Armbruster to hear about the ways that 19th century American writer, naturalist, and abolitionist Henry Thoreau addressed these questions in both his words and actions. Professor Armbruster is currently teaching an “Ideas in Action" Global Cornerstone on one of Thoreau’s most famous works, Walden, or Life in the Woods.
