SYNOPSIS:
Acclaimed writer John D’Agata submits a groundbreaking essay to a struggling New York magazine. The kind of essay that could save the magazine from collapse. Demanding editor Emily Penrose assigns fact-checking duties to Jim Fingal; a fresh out of Harvard intern. The result is a gripping battle of wits over what constitutes a fact and what defines poetic license.
CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS:
Jim Fingal (Male-identifying, 22-30): Eager. Confident. Precocious. Earnest, stubborn, defiant. And yet … seeks validation and recognition.
Emily Penrose (Female-identifying, 40-65): Tough. Career-driven. Leader. Desperate. Smart. Passionate. She knows how important print journalism is for our society.
John D’Agata (Male-identifying, 40-65): Talented writer. Eccentric. Set in his ways. Used to getting his way. Educator. Loner. Carries hidden trauma. He knows the magazine needs his piece to survive.
