Wayland Memorial Day Events Announced - Monday, May 26, 2025
Please read all details below regarding the parade and events.
Do NOT register for the parade until you have read all parade details and agree to the parade rules located at the bottom of the event. The link to register is also at the bottom.
2025 Memorial Day Parade
The annual Memorial Day Parade will begin at 11 a.m. near the Wayland State Police Post, 544 N. Main St., and concluding at the Wayland VFW, 735 S. Main St.
This parade has a no-horn, no-sirens policy in memory of the fallen Veterans.
Cemetery Honors
If you are a Veteran and would like to take part in the cemetery honors, please arrive at the Wayland VFW by 7:15am.

The parade will begin at 11:00am.
The parade will stop at the downtown four corners to perform Taps at the flag in the downtown mini-park (northeast corner of Superior/Main Streets).
12:00pm VFW Post Memorial Day Ceremony at the flags at the VFW.
12:30pm Luncheon - Public Invited

Political Entrees
We have had some political entrees ask if they can participate. If you are a political entree, please note that
- NO political flags of any nature are allowed. The only flag allowed is the United States flag.
- If you have a banner you would like to carry, please ensure that only ONE banner is allowed and the banner is NOT larger than 3' long x 3' high. This banner is subject to approval by the chamber of commerce.
City police parade rules are as follows.

Please do NOT register for the parade until you have read the rules.
- A parade entrant which operates a vehicle or other equipment in such a way that can be dangerous (burn outs, careless/reckless driving) to spectators or other parade participants will be removed from the parade and possibly cited by law enforcement.
- NO "coal rolling" of vehicles
- Four wheelers, all-terrain vehicles, and mini-racers are PROHIBITED except in certain conditions that are approved by the Wayland City Police Department PRIOR to Memorial Day.
- Nothing shall be thrown from any moving vehicle.
- Handing out candy or other objects is permitted by walkers only.
- All dogs in the parade must be kept on leashes and held by someone strong enough to handle them.
- All animals participating in the parade must be kept under control.
- The parade route is one-way. No parade entrant may reverse direction.
- Participants on bikes, scooters, skateboards, skates, etc. must wear a helmet and proper safety equipment.
- No one may step off a vehicle, float, or any other moving piece of equipment during the parade except in an emergency.
- Float riders must be completely on the float with no legs or other parts of the body hanging over the sides of the float.
NOTE: FLOATS, COMMERCIAL VEHICLES
DO NOT TAKE MAIN STREET TO LINE UP ON DAHLIA. PLEASE TAKE MILL ST OR PARK ST TO LINE UP ON DAHLIA SO YOU ARE FACING THE CORRECT WAY. THERE WILL BE NO ROOM TO TURN AROUND FROM MAIN ONTO DAHLIA.
