"From Clay to Form: A Hand-Building Journey"
Class Description:
Step away from the wheel and into the timeless art of hand-building. From Clay to Form is a foundational ceramics class where you'll learn to shape clay with just your hands, a few simple tools, and your imagination.
Perfect for beginners and those craving a slower, more intuitive approach to clay, this class covers the essential techniques of pinch, coil, and slab construction. You’ll explore form, function, and surface design while creating unique, personal pieces—think mugs, bowls, vases, or sculptural works.
In this class, you’ll learn:
• How to prepare and handle clay for hand-building
• Pinch pot, coil, and slab-building techniques
• How to join and refine forms for strength and beauty
• Basic surface design and finishing techniques
• Glazing and preparing your work for firing
Each week builds on the last, guiding you from raw clay to finished ceramic pieces. You’ll come away not only with pottery you can use and display, but also with a deeper connection to the clay and to your own creative process.
