DUE TO RAIN TOUR RESCHEDULED TO MONDAY JUNE 30TH AT 6PM RIVERSIDE PARK.
The Friends of Wausau Historic Landmarks will host their June Architecture Amble on Thursday, June 26 starting at 6 pm. This special tour will not only look at the architecture and history of the area, but will include information about the continuing environmental impact of the industries that once populated and still do populate the area.
The tour will be led by Carl of Friends of Wausau Historic Landmarks, with special guest founding member and spokesperson for Citizens for Clean Wausau, Tom Kilian. The tour will explore the Thomas Street neighborhood and its long history of industries such as furniture making, sandpaper manufacturing , tanneries, and more. In addition, the area’s small businesses, such as taverns, and parks will be highlighted.
The tour will begin at the lower parking lot of Riverside Park. Please note that this tour may be longer than our typical tours.
Remember to dress for the weather and be sure to wear good walking shoes as there will be some uneven surfaces.
As always, the tour is free and open to all ages. Free will donations are always appreciated.
