We need your help! Come join us to collect seed to restore Westport Prairie in October and be a part of conservation where you live.
We’ll be holding these events on October 1, 8, and 15. Come for one, two, or all three!
Our goal is to turn the surrounding farmland (over 200 acres) at Westport Prairie into native prairie. Every year, we take more than 5 acres of farmland out of use and plant native flowers and grasses in its place. With each prairie we plant, our seed source grows, which means the size of our plantings will also grow. In 2023, we planted 6.5 acres. In 2024, we planted 7.5 acres. To date, we’ve planted ~40 acres at Westport Prairie!
The seed collected from this year’s events will go toward our biggest Westport Prairie planting yet at approximately 10 acres later this winter.
These events are welcome to all. No experience is necessary and we’ll provide the tools. Please register so that we know how many people to expect and so that we can send additional details closer to the event. You may attend multiple dates, but please register for each date you plan to attend.

Please note: No restrooms available at this event. Volunteers can expect to walk ~1mi from start to finish. The terrain can be steep/rocky with animal burrows which may be difficult to traverse for some.
