Take a step behind the gates of the Center for Great Apes for a rare and meaningful experience. Our Afternoon with the Apes educational tours invite small groups to learn more about the sanctuary and the incredible orangutans and chimpanzees who call it home.
This guided walking tour (approximately ½ mile on shell-rock paths) will give you the opportunity to:
🦧 Hear the personal stories of our residents, many of whom were retired from entertainment, research, or private ownership.
🦧 Learn how the Center provides a safe, enriching environment for nearly 70 great apes in need of lifetime care.
🦧 See the sanctuary’s unique habitats and aerial trailways that allow apes to explore and choose where to spend their time.
While the Center is not open to the public as an attraction, Afternoon with the Apes offers a rare educational opportunity to see our mission in action and deepen your understanding of great ape care and conservation.
