Paul Chorley and I are in the planning stages for a Memorial Day Weekend Trip at Highwater Camp. We were the Beta testers last year on Memorial Day weekend. The owners took our suggestions and made some significant improvements. We are excited to return for another great weekend adventure.
Highwater Camp is a PRIVATE group campground. Our group will be the ONLY group on the premises. The location is perfect because it offers on the river bank camping (or meadow camping if the water is too high) and multiple paddling trip options. WOKA is a short drive for those who want to play all day at the whitewater park. The photo shows the Upper Illinois River and paddle trip options.
The cost to camp is $20 per person for the entire weekend payable to me via Venmo, Cash App, or cash at the event. This is primitive camping only. There will be port-a-johns on site, but NO running water. Trash cans, fire rings, and picnic tables are also available.
Feel free to join as your schedule/desire allows: One night; two nights; all weekend; just for the day - you are welcomed.
Last year there were very few paddlers on this section of the Illinois River, lots of bald eagles to enjoy, and a great section of the river to explore.
Each person will be responsible for making their own transportation to the venue. We will coordinate shuttle to and from campground to put in and take out. I will have my trailer.
This is a leaderless group of common adventures. Everyone is responsible for providing their own paddle craft, PFD, paddle and associated gear/safety equipment, as well as all camping gear, food, and beverages.
Please familiarize yourself with GRDA and WOKA rules and regulations. You are responsible for your own safety on land and on the river.

NOTE: The High Water Camp website is up; however, the details of camping do not actually pertain to our group. We have a private agreement with the owner for our group. Such as, the size of the group and number of cars. The campground has a limit on dogs per group. Let me know you you plan on bringing your dog so we stay within the camp rules.
