This is all about wildlife photography, exclusively for women*, to feel comfortable and confident to really explore the natural world. You will have the reserve to yourselves from 5-7pm.
The day is suitable for beginners and entry level. Please bring your own equipment and Rosie can help you get the best out of it. Arrive at 10:30 onwards to begin at 11am.
The day will see both a theory and practical workshop, firstly discussing how to control your camera (shooting techniques), using different lenses. We will talk through the species that call Old Moor home and what we might expect to see at this time of year.
We will then look at the map of Old Moor and then head out on to the reserve for the first part of the photography, where we will focus on the ponds and look out for dragonfly and other pond species.
We will then have lunch (bring your own or use our onsite café) and have a chat about what we captured so far, and a chance for tips of improvement.
We will then head back out to a different part of the reserve and see what else we can captured. We will have the reserve to ourselves for 2 hours, as the rest of the visitors leave at closing time, which means the wildlife should be a little more visible! Once this portion is completed we will head back to the class room and reveal the winner of the best image captured on the day. There will be a prize.
*The term ‘woman’ or ‘women’ or ‘female’ is used in its most inclusive sense to include trans women, genderqueer women, cisgender women and non-binary people, all of whom are welcome to attend.
