Eleanor The Great

After a devastating loss, witty and proudly troublesome Eleanor (the ever-phenomenal June Squibb) decides to move from Florida to New York City for a fresh start. However, making new friends at 94 proves to be quite difficult. Longing for connection, Eleanor is befriended by Nina (Erin Kellyman, Blitz), a 19-year-old journalism student who recently lost her mother and feels estranged from her father (Oscar-nominee Chiwetel Ejiofor, The Life of Chuck). As Nina writes an article on Eleanor's history for her journalism class, their bond flourishes—but Eleanor's tale threatens to take on a dangerous life of its own.
June Squibb delivered a knock-out performance in Thelma, one of the Maine Film Center's biggest hits of 2024, and she fully eclipses herself as the titular character in Scarlett Johansson's directorial debut.
