DDR Books of Watertown will host a signing for Watertown author and retired Lutheran pastor Bob Waite's new book, “On Earth as Is in Heaven,” Sat., Aug. 2, noon to 2 pm.
Also available will be the earlier books of the trilogy: “Thy Kingdom Come” and "Thy Will Be Done."
Here is how the Watertown Public Opinion described Waite’s books in 2018:
“The non-fiction book (“They Will Be Done") follows Waite's first book, "Thy Kingdom Come," which details his life and how he turned to God to find happiness and save his marriage. His second book further explains how God is involved in the lives of all humans.
"A 1968 graduate of Watertown High School, Waite had a successful business career after earning his undergraduate degree from the University of South Dakota. But he had turned away from religion earlier in life due to, among other things, financial setbacks to his family when he was a child and the deaths of high school friends Craig Horner and Charles Langenfeld in the Vietnam War.
Unhappy and on the brink of his marriage breaking up, Waite says he had a deeply religious experience in a Sioux Falls church that turned his life around."
"Even without proper credentials he was accepted into a Lutheran seminary and eventually became a pastor with stops in Watertown, Florence, Piedmont and Sturgis. He also has spent time teaching Christianity in Africa."
"The Waites joined the Red Cross when their house was damaged in the 1997 flooding of Watertown, and (they) (sic) have remained emergency workers ever since. Their most recent stop was last year when they assisted victims of hurricane Harvey in Houston, Texas."
The three books represent a journey through life and a search for truth and inner peace. The third book continues with Waite’s life and spiritual story, concluding the trilogy titled with lines taken from “The Lord’s Prayer.”
