Introduction to Book Folding
In this Introduction to Book Folding class, you’ll explore the many creative ways books can be transformed into sculptural art. We’ll cover several popular book-folding styles—such as template fold, mark & fold, cut & fold, cut & fold with cardstock, combi, and 180 folds—while focusing on one beginner-friendly technique you can confidently complete in class.
You’ll be:
--Introduced to basic tools and terminology
--Taught how to properly find the center of a book (a crucial first step!)
--Guided step-by-step through your first folded design—a beautiful heart
The template-fold technique used in this class requires no cutting and no marking, making it perfect for beginners. With only 64 folds, most participants are able to start and finish their book during class.
All tools and materials are provided—just bring your curiosity and a bit of patience.
Be sure to check the class calendar for more advanced book-folding classes once you’ve mastered the basics.
Recommended for ages 12 and up.
