The Cookie Jar Mystery: A Study in Forensic Science, recommended for 4th - 6th graders
Who broke the cookie jar? Who took the cookies?
This July, students will become forensic investigators, using real-world science to solve a classroom crime.
In this hands-on course designed for students entering 4th–6th grade, kids will analyze fingerprints, hair samples, fibers, and bite marks. They’ll run ink chromatography tests, explore toxicology, study blood types, and even analyze DNA and pollen. Along the way, they’ll practice questioning suspects, tracking alibis, and piecing together evidence to crack the case.

This course aligns with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and Common Core State Standards. Students will build critical thinking, teamwork, and observation skills while having fun solving this mystery.
