Students will step into the role of forensic investigators as they work to solve a mystery: the disappearance of a canister of money meant for a 4th-grade field trip at Markwell Elementary. Using a series of clues, scientific tools, and forensic techniques, students will analyze evidence and uncover the truth.
Throughout the course, students will:
Collect & Analyze Evidence – Examine fibers, soil samples, shoe prints, tire treads, and lip prints.
Explore Scientific Techniques – Conduct fingerprint analysis, DNA profiling, and cryptogram decoding.
Think Like Scientists – Use observation, deduction, and problem-solving skills to solve the case.
Work as a Team – Collaborate to track suspects and form conclusions based on motive, means, and opportunity.
This engaging, hands-on experience builds confidence, scientific literacy, and a deeper understanding of forensic investigation.
Students will leave with newfound skills and an appreciation for the role of science in solving real-world mysteries.
