You won’t believe how often we’ve had people from Atlanta ask us to bring this show to the 404 over the years. While we aren’t doing that just yet for our next event on August 10, we are paying homage to the city the best way we know how.
There’s absolutely no way to talk about the evolution of Black music (and Black culture) without talking about Atlanta’s contributions. That rings true in hip-hop and best believe Atlanta R&B is just as influential, dominant and timeless. From Gladys Knight’s midnight train, to Usher’s confessions, Andre 3000’s R&B-infused love below and everyone in between, Atlanta’s energy will be live and direct in D.C. About the only thing we’ll be missing is the hookah.
We’ll be where we’ve always been:
Songbyrd Music House (540 Penn Street NE) from noon-to-2PM, Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Food and drinks are, of course, available to order at the bar. Even if you aren’t a native ATLien, this event’s for you. Because we’re willing to bet these songs and these artists have soundtracked your life — just like ours.

The R&B Club is a cultural gathering founded in 2018 that discusses the influence of R&B music. In other words, think of it as a musical book club-style meetup. Follow us on social media at @therandbclubdc for more information.
