Wear your ‘best’ lights for the Sk8 DC Friday “Night” Skate!
Join us for the Sk8 DC Friday Night Skate! See the monuments of DC all lit up as we light up the night!
Jazz yourself up with a fun set of decorative lights, AND, of course, lighted or spark throwing wheels!
;0) We will have a small prize for whoever has the most dynamic light display. ;0)
We will meet at Freedom Plaza at 7pm and warm up with a nice easy skate to the Capital, and skate along the mall and museums to the National Monument. We will then head to the Lincoln Memorial through the World War II Memorial.
From there, we will proceed to Haynes Point with the option to take the 3 mile loop (12 mile total skate) or sit by the water and enjoy the Potomac River bank and watch the planes land a National Airport (8.5 mile total skate.)
From Haynes Point, we will cross the 14th St Bridge, to get a great view of The Wharf and the Fish Market. We will enjoy a few up and down hills and round out the memorials at the Dwight D. Eisenhower Memorial Park.
Lastly, we finish with an exhilarating downhill through the 12th St Tunnel.
The skate is mostly flat on good pavement with a few climbs and downhills. Two public restrooms are along the way but NO opportunity to buy a refreshment so bring what you need.
We welcome bikers, skateboarders, one-wheels, scooters or anything else that can keep our pace!
Of course, all skating/riding is at your own risk.
