Pete Tong has been a defining figure in dance music for more than two decades, shaping the global scene through his role as the voice of BBC Radio 1’s renowned dance programming. Known for his sharp instinct for discovering new talent, he has become one of electronic music’s most influential tastemakers. While fans know him primarily as a celebrated DJ, behind the scenes he has built a legacy as a visionary who has helped steer the industry’s evolution.
After spending most of his life in England, Tong relocated to Los Angeles to expand his reach in the U.S. market. He quickly made his mark by helping launch Clear Channel Entertainment’s Evolution dance brand in 2013 and expanding its programming into "The Evolution Beatport Show with Pete Tong", syndicated on 90 Top 40 stations nationwide. Meanwhile, his BBC Radio 1 shows, including "The Essential Mix" and "The Essential Selection", continue to command a massive international audience through the BBC iPlayer, maintaining their reputation as essential platforms for new music premieres.
On the DJ circuit, Tong leads the "All Gone Pete Tong" residencies in Los Angeles, Miami, and Las Vegas, each focusing on bringing underground sounds to high-profile club spaces. His brand has also made a global impact, hosting stages at premier festivals like Creamfields, TomorrowWorld, and SW4, as well as signature parties during Miami’s Winter Music Conference and in Ibiza. As a producer, he has released music on respected labels such as Ministry of Sound, Toolroom, and Suara, while curating acclaimed compilation albums, including "The Pete Tong Collection" and "All Gone Ibiza" series.
Beyond his on-air and performance work, Tong has been a driving force in the business side of electronic music. He co-founded WME’s electronic music division, revived the iconic FFRR label to sign rising stars like Oliver Heldens and The Magician, and established The International Music Summit, a leading industry conference held in global music hubs. Through these ventures, Tong has not only elevated countless artists but also shaped the cultural and commercial landscape of dance music. Now based in Los Angeles, he continues to push boundaries, aiming to redefine how America experiences and embraces the electronic sound.
