Maya Jane Coles is a prolific and multi-talented British-Japanese DJ and producer, renowned for her deep influence on the global electronic music scene. By the age of 29, she had released her critically acclaimed sophomore album *Take Flight* on her own label I/AM/ME, following her successful debut *Comfort*. Maya is known not just for her DJing but for her complete control over her music—writing, producing, engineering, mixing, and even designing the artwork herself. Her wide-ranging musical influences span from dub and punk to soul and classical, and she first gained recognition with underground house hit “What They Say,” which later formed the backbone of Nicki Minaj’s Grammy-nominated “Truffle Butter.”
Having performed in over 40 countries, Maya’s reach extends beyond clubs and festivals to art institutions like the Tate Modern and MOMA. She’s collaborated with and remixed a vast array of artists, from Tricky and The ** to Florence & The Machine and Ella Fitzgerald. Alongside her work as Nocturnal Sunshine, a bass-driven alias, Maya has released award-winning music and maintained a strong presence in top DJ rankings, bolstered by acclaimed mixes for platforms like Boiler Room and K7’s DJ-Kicks.
