Are you curious about science — or maybe unsure how it fits into your life? Maybe you’ve felt skeptical of it, left out by it, or simply disconnected. We want to hear from you.
On Thursday, August 7th, the American Physical Society is hosting a small, in-person gathering in downtown D.C. This facilitated conversation will bring together community members and scientists to reflect on trust, accountability, and how science shows up in everyday life — through healthcare, education, public systems, and personal experience.
This is part of a new pilot initiative exploring how we can better listen to public voices and build more meaningful, mutual forms of science engagement. We’re especially looking to hear from people who don’t work in science — including those who may feel skeptical, left out, or unsure where they fit in. This event is the first of its kind, and your feedback will help shape future versions. After the conversation, we’ll ask what worked, what didn’t, and how we can make it better next time.
Dinner and free parking are provided.
Location: American Physical Society – 555 12th St NW, Suite 250, Washington, D.C.
Time: 5:30–7:30 PM
Who it’s for: Members of the public who do not work in STEM
If you're interested in joining, you can either scan the QR code on the flyer below or follow this link to fill out a short form. Please note that completing the form does not guarantee a spot — we’ll follow up to confirm your participation. Priority will go to those who are not currently working in science or STEM fields.
