Holistic Wellness with Natural Oils and Herbs 8/2 at 2pm

Piloted in 2021, "WELLderness: An Outdoor Wellness Series" was developed to bring members of the community together (in person and online) to engage in activities that would have a positive impact on their physical and mental health and well-being. Throughout the year, people have the opportunity to participate in FREE events that center around fostering better connections to self and the environment.

**Masks are no longer required. They remain optional for those who wish to wear one during a Friends event**

About the Instructor

Felicia L. Reed is an internationally recognized, award-winning fiber artist who has captivated audiences with her innovative and meaningful artwork. Specializing in Wet Felting, an ancient technique of hand-agitation to create fabric using primarily silk and wool, Ms. Reed combines artistic mastery with a deeply personal mission.

Beyond her art, Felicia is a Speaker, Coach, Volunteer, Advocate, and a survivor of extreme domestic violence. Based in Maryland, USA, her life’s work revolves around using art as a tool for healing, empowerment, and change. Her dedication to supporting other survivors of trauma and advocating for social transformation has been a cornerstone of her career.

Ms. Reed has exhibited her works in galleries and art forums across the Washington, DC area and the United States. She has also completed several successful solo exhibitions, with plans for more in the future. Among her many accolades, Felicia was honored as a Gold Awardee at the prestigious 2022 Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum’s Annual Juried Exhibit.

Felicia L. Reed continues to inspire and impact through both her art and her advocacy work, offering speaking and artistic opportunities for those seeking inspiration and healing through creativity.

What you will be doing

During this time, we will learn about 8 natural oils and herbs we can use to support our emotional and mental well being. Participants will leave with a sample and handouts.

When

Saturday, August 2 2025 at 2:00pm. Check-in opens at 1:45pm.

Where

Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens, 1550 Anacostia Ave Northeast, Washington, DC 20019. Participants will meet at the picnic area past the visitor center.

Getting There

By car, there is a large visitors parking lot at the park entrance on Anacostia Ave and abundant street parking surrounding the park. By Metro, the park entrance is 1.0 mile from the Deanwood Metro Station and 1.3 miles from the Minnesota Ave Station, both on the Orange Line. By foot or bike, access the park via the Anacostia River Trail.

What to Bring

Participants should bring a water bottle, snack, bug spray, sun protection, and/or anything else one may carry when spending time outdoors. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes for being outdoors.
