The Korean Cultural Center invites everyone into a space shaped by memory, displacement, and provisional belonging. Patchwork of Elsewhere gathers the works of Gina Bae, Timothy Hyunsoo Lee, Sookkyung Park, and Yu-Ching Wang, each navigating personal and cultural histories through painting, sculpture, and video. Visitors are invited to explore the exhibition at their own pace or join a group for a Curator’s Tour at 6:15 p.m. or 7:15 p.m., offering extensive insights into the artworks and the themes behind Patchwork of Elsewhere. Lūneh Yoga, a serene and tranquil studio, is excited to join ArtWalk for the first time! They are transforming their space into an art gallery for the night, and are hosting two amazing artists for public view. First is Kaitlin Engesser, founder of “In The House Of Studio,” is an East Coast artist with a background in interior design. Her ceramics live at the intersection of art and function – merging the structured sensibility of interior design with the expressive freedom of sculptural form. Second is Aida Ebrahimi, who is an interdisciplinary artist and art educator. Her creative process includes experimenting with art forms of photography, illustration, painting, ceramic sculpture, and calligraphy to convey her own journey of existentialism, immigrant trauma, sexual trauma, and gender politics through sarcasm and a touch of whimsy. The MEI Art Gallery presents “Maximal Miniatures,” which showcases 13 leading contemporary Iranian artists who draw from the classical genre of Persian miniature painting to create new interpretations of this rich visual tradition in color, scale, and form. Curated by Donna Honarpisheh, associate curator at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami, the exhibition references Persian history, poetry, and stories from the Book of Kings (Shahnameh) to explore questions of identity, gender, diaspora, and the mythologies that form past and present lives. The Museum of the Palestinian People is proud to present “Sa’deyyah” by Ismail Shammout (1993) as part of its "Gaza Remains the Story" Exhibit in cooperation with the Palestinian Museum in BirZeit, West Bank. Shammout experienced the 1948 Nakba when his family was forced to leave Lyda for Khan Younis. Throughout his career he used light and imagery to craft a portrait representative of his longing to return home. “Sa’deyyah” is part of our current exhibit, “Gaza Remains the Story,” which aims to inform, educate, and bear witness to Gaza’s reality, while offering a glimpse into the art, aspirations, and enduring spirit of its people. Through overwhelming tragedy, Palestinians continue to write a new chapter in human history, defined by unwavering love, spirit, and resilience. The Washington Center of ADA University, ADA Art Gallery, presents “Echoes of Light,” by Anice Hoachlander, a noted DC architectural photographer whose work is widely published. Driven by a desire to observe the natural world more closely, Anice explores the intricate patterns found in trees, fungi, flowers, vegetables, leaves, and even building materials. Her fascination with the miniature allows her to magnify overlooked objects, enabling viewers to experience hidden complexity.
