Exploring Theatrical Belly Dance Workshop with Gretchen

Although Egyptian belly dance was not traditionally used to tell stories on a big stage, it has been adapted to the theater starting with the Reda troupe and continuing through more recent productions like Belly Dance Superstars and Belly Dance Evolution. This workshop will explore some elements of what makes theatrical, story-telling dance different from regular belly dance performances, incorporating elements of stagecraft, character, and theme. Participants will work together to create their own mini theatrical dance piece. Some previous belly dance experience strongly recommended.

The workshop is offered in person only, and a recording will be provided.
