CONSERVATION RESOURCE FAIR SEPTEMBER 27TH
Downtown Washington Farmers Market Special Event!
The Daviess-Martin CISMA is excited to partner with the Downtown Washington Farmers Market for their Conservation Resource Fair on Saturday September 27th, from 8am-12pm. This family friendly event is free to attend, and will be set up in the new Commons Event Pavillion at 310 E South Street in downtown Washington (just south of Main Street, at the corner of SE 4th Street and E South Street).
Visit a variety of conservation booths on Forestry, Wildlife, Soil Health, and more! Check out wildlife furs with DNR Conservation Officers, live fish from the East Fork Fish Hatchery, and tools of the trade used to control invasive plants with Glendale Fish & Wildlife Managers. Make your own nature craft to take home and enter to win door prizes, including a Stihl battery operated pruning saw. If you get hungry, choose from farmers market vendors, food trucks, or downtown businesses for a quick bite to eat.
The CISMA, or Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area, is a local partnership started in 2018 by the Daviess and Martin County Soil & Water Conservation Districts (SWCDs). The CISMA’s mission is to educate, assist, and connect people to protect our native wildlife and habitats from the impacts of invasive species. This is their third Conservation Resource Fair, where they hope to connect residents with conservation professionals, and highlight the tools and support available when it comes to natural resource management.
