Atlas Arts Lab presents Rashaad Pearson's Time Machine

Rashaad Pearson, a dancer and cultural historian, will spend this residency creating “Time Machine: Black American Freestyle Dance,” a project that seeks to bridge the past and the present, using the power of dance to explore the enduring legacy of Black American culture.

By honoring the historical roots of freestyle soul dance while pushing the boundaries of creativity, this project aims to inspire both reflection and innovation, fostering a deeper appreciation for the rich cultural tapestry that continues to influence and shape our world today. The project aims to engage audiences with the dynamic interplay between tradition and innovation, demonstrating how the past continues to inspire and shape the future of Black American dance.
