For many, today's world can be difficult, chaotic and stressful affecting both our mental & physical health. Parent and teacher mental health can directly affect the mental health, wellness, and behavior of our children. At this conference, we will explore some facts and discuss the state of mental and behavioral health affecting our children, parents and early childhood educators.
Info: Lori Duffy is a licensed independent clinical social worker, who, for over 25 years has specialized in working with families with young children who have disruptive behaviors, anxiety, depression, those who are struggling with new changes in their life and adults who need support. She empowers parents to be their child's most important teacher and their own change agent. Lori has extensive experience working with families to develop effective behavior plans that aim to minimize the negative effects of mental health issues in the home, school and childcare environments. She is a behavioral health consultant for local pediatricians and a certified Mental Health First Aid instructor. She has worked in early childcare settings, community mental health settings, and has maintained her own private practice for over 16 years.
Info: Brian Daridge is a father who has a child at the C.H.I.L.D., Inc. Draper Avenue Center for the second year. His family; beautiful wife Amanda, their three children, Taylor (21), Landyn (6), and Carter (4). Also, their dog Harley, and his mother-in-law and her dog who recently joined the household. They are one big happy family that loves to spend time together traveling, being outside, riding ATV's, riding bikes and rollerblading. They enjoy watching family movies and gathering with friends & family. Brian will share his story of fatherhood and his Head Start journey.
Info: Catherine Green, RI Head Start Collaboration Office Director will provide the latest Head Start updates and discuss Strategic Planning. Leanne Barrett, RIght from the Start/Kids Count, will discuss latest early childhood policy including child mental health and maternal mental health.
Info: Chatting about Challenges: Managing Challenges of Parenting in Early Childhood, is an overview of some of the developmentally appropriate behaviors children exhibit in early childhood that can be challenging for their caregivers, ways caregivers can manage the behaviors, and their own stress levels.
