I lost my husband to suicide on May 13, 2023—Mother’s Day weekend.
Our kids had come to town, and what should’ve been a happy time became one of the darkest days of our lives.
He battled depression, addiction, and suicidal thoughts for years. And after losing him, I made a decision—to speak up, to advocate for mental health, and to do whatever I can to help others feel less alone.
This is why I’m organizing Morgan County’s 1st Annual Out of the Darkness Walk on September 27, 2025.
We’ll meet on Court Street at 6 PM, walk together at sunset around the courthouse wearing glow gear, then celebrate life, hope, and connection with a Glow Party at MoCo Brewing Project.
We’ll have mental health resources, local first responders sharing knowledge, a memory board for loved ones we’ve lost, food trucks, Coop’s BBQ—and a whole lot of love and support.
Our community has lost too many. But we are not powerless.
Let’s walk for them. Let’s walk for ourselves. Let’s walk Out of the Darkness 💛
