Crossing Strings - ClassicalFingerstyle Guitar Duo
Crossing Strings is an Austrian crossover guitar duo consisting of classical guitarist and instrumental educator Carina Maria Linder from Carinthia, and Vienna-based fingerstyle guitarist Markus Schlesinger, the founder of the Vienna Fingerstyle Festival. With their debut album "Intersections," the duo has catapulted itself "to the forefront of the European fingerpicker scene" (Concerto 6/22) and tours through Australia, Belgium, Hungary, Austria, Germany, and Switzerland with concerts and guitar workshops. In "Intersections," the Classical Fingerstyle Guitar Duo presents original compositions, self-arranged classical, jazzy, and pop standards, along with two voices that uniquely complement each other in their tonal colors.
From Intersections To Interwoven
With their debut album „Intersections," the Austrian based crossover guitar duo „Crossing Strings“ catapulted themselves "to the top of the European fingerpicking scene" (Concerto 6/22). Following an extensive tour in Australia in 2024, they now present "Interwoven" – the duo's new program that is currently evolving into a new album. Interwoven, because here the intertwined stories and experiences of the two guitarists, Carina Maria Linder (classical guitar, vocals) and Markus Schlesinger (fingerstyle guitar, vocals), take center stage.
While in their first work they met at their stylistic and musical intersections, their music can now be described as interwoven… woven into a completely new style that blurs the boundaries of classical, jazz, and world music, creating its own musical universe. During their first tour in Australia, the musicians were inspired by the idea that it is the interweaving and exchange of the individual elements that transforms them into a fruitful and constructive whole, and they decided to dedicate an entire album to this concept. Along the way, Linder and Schlesinger present both new and old songs – so from Intersections to Interwoven!
