Heritage Afternoon Tea - hosted by the Mayor of Warrington

Join us as Mike Taylor from Thelwall Heritage Group talks about Admiral John Parry Jones Parry: Thelwall’s Last Lord of the Manor.
With his death in 1920, John Parry Jones Parry provided a grand finale to seven centuries of Lords of the Manor of Thelwall. In no way was he typical of the breed. He was sent to boarding school when he was eight years old, joined the Royal Navy at fifteen and was a serving officer until his early forties.
He then ran a naval training ship for unemployed and delinquent lads until he was about fifty-seven. Two years later, he inherited the manor of Thelwall.

He died aged ninety.
