Gabriel Moreno is Gibraltarian singer-songwriter, currently based in London. An irresistibly engaging performer, he combines a latin exuberance and passion with a rare lyrical calibre (he is also a published poet, with 12 books in Spanish and English). Performing on nylon-stringed guitar and accompanied by pianist Ned Cartwright, he creates a live experience that has been described as ”Taberna Folk” - at once both energetic and intimate, anarchic and absorbing
Moreno’s unique artistic voice lies in the meeting and fusion of different identities. Born and raised in Gibraltar, a British territory bordering southern Spain and just 8 miles from Africa, he has since lived and performed across the world, absorbing influences from music, literature and art everywhere he went. Now considered one of the most compelling and distinctive artists in London's thriving folk and roots scene, he was previously the longtime curator and host of the legendary Lantern Society folk club, and in 2022 was awarded the title of Cultural Ambassador of Gibraltar.

8.30 pm - TOWN OF CATS

Grabbed by their scruffs, thrown in a rough hessian sack and tossed in the lake shortly after birth by some farmer or other, Town of Cats shoulda been goners before they even got started. But attempted euthanasia'll do funny things for friendships -- that, and lack of oxygen. Rescued from the water's numbing embrace by Mama Biscuits and her pack of feral moggies, Joe, Adam, Barney and Ben were shoved unceremoniously behind instruments, mewling and dripping. Ol' Ma took up her trusty sax, and told the four to play up or pack it in.
The fiercely energetic festival veterans pool their love of Afrobeat, Latin, jazz, rock, musicals and trashy 80’s pop to bring their own brand of chaos. The five part horn section wrestles the sounds from heavy guitar riffs and wild synth solos. The MC and singer prowls the stage like a wild animal, riling up spectators. They have been described as progressive Zumba-core or calypso on Buckfast.
