During this magical day you will step into the joy of sacred crafting, opening up to the power of your creative expression as you birth a red drum and its beater. Through ceremony and shamanic journeying, you’ll connect with the natural materials that you are working with and the spirit of your drum. Alongside the crafting we will explore the essence of the Divine Feminine, what is means to anchor into our power as women, and the importance of the red drum.
This workshop is for you if you want to:
• Connect with more deeply with yourself and honour your divine feminine power
• Birth powerful sacred tools imbued with your own energies, prayers and intentions
• Connect with Mother Earth and surround yourself with nature
• Mark a transition or rite of passage
• Connect with a sisterhood of other women
• Join a lineage of red medicine drum carriers
• Craft a drum for working with women; perhaps as a circle facilitator, healer, doula
This workshop will be held at my rural home in the Isle of Purbeck - just outside of Wareham, Dorset. We are custodians of seven acres of land, with the river Piddle running between our garden and meadow; we have a little pocket of ancient woodland with oak and holly trees that are hundreds of years old. The place is abundant with wildlife, and you may spot herons, buzzards, swans and Egyptian geese.
Cost: £290
Payment plans are available for those who would prefer to pay in instalments. A £150 deposit is required to secure your place; this is non-refundable but can be transferred to a friend should you be unable to make it.
More Details
You’ll be creating a deerskin drum from wild Sika deer that have roamed freely in the Purbecks, prepared into rawhide in ceremony from start to finish by myself. Please note that the exact shade of red for the drum can vary from skin to skin, and depending on the dyeing process.
You can choose what size hoop you would like to use; these are made in Britain by spiritual craftsmen, and are either Birch (13" or 14") or Ash (16").
We will be weaving a three-pronged trispiral handle design on the back of the drum, to represent the triple goddess.
You are welcome to bring a particular crystal or stone that you would like to weave into the handle of the drum, or I will have a selection that you can choose from on the day.
Additional Extras:
Larger hoops (18”) are available for an extra charge of £30 - please let me know if this is something that you would prefer and I shall source and prepare a larger deerskin.
If you need or want to, your are welcome to camp for £12ppn; there are also three B&B rooms available in our family home for £40pppn (single), or £25pppn (2+ sharing).
I also offer 1:1 and small group one day drum birthing workshops, as well as two day rattle and drum immersions; we can make red drums during these. Please check out the 1:1 page for further information.
