About the event

James Hollingsworth
https://squareandcompasspub.co.uk/what-s-on/1632

South-West England-based James Hollingsworth has a passionate voice and a unique, complex acoustic guitar finger-style, reminiscent of Andalusian guitar, and 'travels in possession of a mean harmonica style' (The Independent), fusing elements of folk, blues, trance, metal and psychedelic rock. A full-time performing musician since 2006, he now adds multi-instrumental live looping mastery to his improvisational style, often with epic results.

Since going full-time with music in 2006 James has become an acclaimed songwriter and multi-instrumentalist performing regularly several times a week the length and breadth of the country, honing his talents as an energetic and animated front man, making for a captivating performance.

His often visionary songs are refreshingly inventive and accessible, drawn from his Folk-Blues roots, influenced by the likes of William Blake, Roy Harper and Tim Buckley as well as Prog Rock, by turns delicately tranquil and then soaring with "hypnotic groove munching guitar space freak-outs - plus glorious songwriting within" (says Wunder Bar).

Steeped with ecological awareness, a rare hopefulness, warmly humorous undercurrents, and immaculate musicianship, he is "a true exponent of the modern British singer/songwriter, a real gem" - Monmouthshire Music
