Wappinger Creek Boat Launch, Near The Brick Community Center And Playing Field
121-129 County Road 91, Wappingers Falls, United States
May 18, 2025 from 10 AM to 2 PM
Join the Mid-Hudson Adirondack Mountain Club for a clean up by kayak at Lower Wappinger Creek from 10 AM to 2 PM for the 14th Annual Riverkeeper Sweep. Please note, all kayakers must bring their own kayaks, paddles, and PFDs, and must be EXPERIENCED PADDLERS. This is a rain or shine event.
Volunteers will meet at Wappingers Creek Boat Launch,121-129 County Rd 91, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. The meeting spot and launch is just past the brick Community Center (on the creek side) and the playing field (on the opposite side). Look for the sign for the Hudson R. Water Trail and a small park. There is a small parking area near the launch. You can also park at the playing field or in the Community Center's parking lot.
If you don't want to go on water, you can pick up litter in the small park. Otherwise, a boat and gear are needed. Boats include canoes, kayaks, rowboats & small power boats. Gear includes PFDs (which MUST be worn while on water), water shoes, synthetic clothing (NOT cotton) waterproof gloves or nitrile/vinal or work gloves. If you know how to paddle a canoe, but don't have one, you might be able to borrow one from the leader. We recommend that all Sweep volunteers bring a hat, sunscreen, a full reusable water bottle, insect repellent, work gloves and hand sanitizer.
This site is not suitable for elementary-aged children.
