Join us for an evening in the spirit of the Hakawati--derived from 'haki' or talk, 'hakawati' is the Arabic word for storyteller. Hakawati originated in the Arab world and were instrumental in preserving traditions, family histories and culture through oral history. They are seen as keepers of traditions, bridging the gap between the old and the new. Especially important are these stories to generations growing up outside their native countries, in the diaspora. The special evening of storytelling will feature hakawatti sharing personal and familial stories from Palestine, Ukraine, Armenia and more.
100% of ticket proceeds will go to mutial aid supporting Gaza and the West Bank in Palestine.
We encourage the audience to order food and drinks from Norma's delcious menu :)
