Come and join us for our Fifth Annual High Point "First Day Challenge" Hike. This will be a great way to start off the new year with some exercise. The first, more rugged half of the hike will be on the Appalachian Trail (AT) in scenic High Point State Park. The return will be on the easier Iris Trail-- a well-graded, old wagon road. The hike will be guided by the Trail Conference of NY/NJ High Point Trail supervisor and John Rovetto and members of New Jersey Search and Rescue. Children ages 12 and up with an adult are welcome, as are dogs on leashes (six feet long or less).

Maximum elevation =1600 ft Minimum elevation =1300 ft. Members of NJ Search and Rescue will be along to assist.
Length of Hike: 6 miles
Degree of Difficulty: Moderate to Difficult
Wear: Sturdy footgear and weather-appropriate clothing, depending on conditions snowshoes or foot traction may be appropriate.
Bring: Water/snacks/lunch
ADA Accessible: No
Restrictions: The pace will not be too rapid, but please be realistic when assessing any medical conditions that may preclude such activities.
Exact Meeting Location: Appalachian Trail parking lot Route 23, Montague, NJ (just south of High Point State Park Office, 1480 Route 23).
Fee: There is no fee charged to participate in this hike. New Jersey Search and Rescue is a non-profit organization that does not charge for its services. However, donations, no matter how small are always welcome. www.njsar.org
