Guitarist, songwriter and bandleader Geoff Achison began his musical journey under the mentorship of legendary blues master 'Dutch' Tilders, quickly establishing himself as a skilled lead guitarist, with a unique style. After completing his apprenticeship with the Dutchman, Geoff formed The Souldiggers and began to pursue his own genre busting vision. Rather than blues purism, Geoff employed The Souldiggers to begin blending blues, rock, jazz, and old-school soul in a quest to seek new sounds, and to push themselves to the limit as creative musicians. Subsequent touring and album releases established The Souldiggers as a formidable musical force with their electrifying originality and spontaneity at the fore.
Geoff’s first international break came in 1995 when he won the prestigious Albert King Award for his guitar skills at the Memphis Blues Challenge in the USA. The win launched him onto stages across the USA, UK, and Europe, earning acclaim not just as a guitarist, but as a compelling songwriter and live performer. His all-star band features a veritable ‘who’s who’ of A-list players with Gerry Pantazis on drums, Rob Little on bass and Richard Tankard on keys. Together they consistently deliver tight, powerful live shows that have become festival favourites both at home and abroad.
Celebrating over three decades together, Geoff & The Souldiggers have earned multiple national awards and a place in the Blues Music Victoria Hall of Fame.
