Welcome new trap line volunteers! Your mahi aroha is going to support us to bring down the pest animal population so our native species can thrive. This induction event at Pīwaiwaka Farm is to teach you everything you need to know about becoming a trap line volunteer, and weave you into the fabric of our Learning Environment community.
At this induction workshop we’ll cover:
-Different types of traps
-Checking and resetting traps
-Recording on the trap nz app
-Familiarizing yourself with the trap line walks around the property
Please wear sturdy boots and farm appropriate clothing, and bring a water bottle with you.
This role requires at least moderate fitness as you will be walking on varied terrain, checking traps for around an hour each time you come.
Once you’re trained up, we’ll put together a roster. Your trapline walk can happen in your own time during the week you’re rostered on, so it can easily fit your schedule. It can be done alone, with a buddy, or as a family. It's a wonderful way to get outdoors and enjoy the peace of the forest while making a significant contribution to the Learning Environment project as a whole.
