📢 Bobby Calf Awareness Day – 24 Hour Vigil & Fast

Bobby Calf Awareness Day is a grassroots campaign that began in 2023, driven by concerned individuals committed to exposing the hidden suffering of bobby calves. The movement aims to raise public awareness and inspire lasting change for the most vulnerable victims of the dairy industry.
Under current NZ law, bobby calves can legally be denied food and water for up to 24 hours before slaughter. This year, to reflect this cruelty and bring urgent attention to it, dedicated activists will fast for 24 hours on-site – embodying the hunger calves endure in their final hours.

💥 HOW TO PARTICIPATE:
🔸 24-Hour Fast
Join the on-site fast from midday 31 August to midday 1 September – or take part remotely from your own location.

🔸 Bearing Witness / Documentation
Help document the arrival of bobby calves to the slaughterhouse during the event. Photos and videos are vital to raising awareness.
🔸 Chalktivism
Get creative! We’ll be using sidewalk chalk to leave messages and anti-dairy slogans around the property.
🔸 Outreach
We’ll have outreach materials on hand. If you enjoy engaging with the public and spreading awareness, we’d love your help.
🔸 Livestream
Parts of the event will be livestreamed via Facebook Live. If you can’t attend in person, you can leave a message of support for activists or a message for the calves – we’ll chalk it onsite for you!
🔸 Support Rescue Efforts
Please consider donating to groups working to rescue and rehome bobby calves. We’re spotlighting Starfish Bobby Calf Project – a grassroots team saving calves from slaughter and giving them a second chance.
