4-H Understanding Carcass Results

Did you sell your animal in the Fair’s livestock auction and get a USDA grade and placing afterward? Ever wonder what those numbers really mean — and how they can help you do even better next year? Whether you’re chasing a banner, trying to get the most out of your feed costs, or just curious about what judges look for, learning about USDA grading can give you a serious edge. Even if your animal didn’t get evaluated this year, come find out how grading works and what it can tell farmers about their livestock (and awesome young producers like you)! Join 4-H Educator, Kaitlyn, in learning how to understand carcass evaluations, calculate yield and understand the USDA Grading system. Bring along your carcass results from fair to see how you can improve your auction animal for next year and where your animal excelled. NEW THIS YEAR- pictures from carcasses evaluated will be included!
