Ingathering: An All-Ages Ritual of Belonging

Like so many other Unitarian Universalist congregations, we mark the start of this church year with our Ingathering Service.
All are invited and welcome to join us for an all-ages celebration. This is an interactive and participatory service. We encourage everyone to bring a small amount of water from a place where you have felt a sense of belonging — whether that’s your kitchen, your backyard, a local river or stream, the library, a friend’s home, or anywhere your spirit feels at home. We will also have symbolic water provided so that everyone can participate. During the service, we will combine our waters into one shared bowl, symbolizing that while we all seek truth and nourishment in different ways, we are all connected, and together we build a sense of belonging. Come, bring your water and your whole selves, and let us begin the year in joy and community.
