Scamps Comedy Night at Tessie's: Jason Merrill, Tyler Hittner

Three of Boston's hottest comedians take the stage as stand-up comedy comes to Tessie's Bar & Kitchen, 1006 Main Street, Walpole on Thursday, August 7.

With an act that’s one part Saturday-morning cartoon character and one part pro-wrestler, Jason Merrill is a fast-rising Boston comedian with an animated style. The latest in a line of strong comedians from the great city of Lawrence, Massachusetts, he impresses audiences with his streetwise style and good-natured exuberance. He headlines at top venues in Boston and beyond and has shared the stage with accomplished comedians such as Juston McKinney, Lenny Clarke, Christine Hurley, and Steve Sweeney.

Rhode Island-based Tyler Hittner has made a name for himself in New England and New York City, where he’s a regular at the popular Broadway Comedy Club. Suffering from viral meningitis and relying on a walker has never stopped Hittner from lighting up stages. With his energetic stage presence, hilarious jokes and stories, Hittner is a force to be reckoned with onstage. His charisma, charm and likability allow him to connect with all types of audiences and leave them wanting more. In 2023, he won Maine's “Wicked Funny Laugh Off” competition, and he was named Motif Magazine’s favorite live performer. He’s appeared at the Hampton Beach Comedy Festival in New Hampshire, the Rogue Island Comedy Festival in Rhode Island, the Whale City Comedy Festival in Mass., and the Portland (Maine) Comedy Festival.

Host Jim Ruberti is a Boston comedian and actor who has been entertaining people for more than 30 years. He has performed with the biggest comics in New England, including Lenny Clarke, Steve Sweeney, Paul Nardizzi, Christine Hurley, Jimmy Dunn, Dave Rattigan, Mike Donovan, and Juston McKinney. Venues include the Cotuit Center for the Arts, Nick’s Comedy Stop, Mass Arts Center, Comedy Key West, and more. He has performed at the Cape Cod Comedy Festival and is a cast member for the successful Ranting Parents Comedy Tour. Jim’s comedy is clean and fresh, centered around family and current events.
