You'll be guided each step of the way by jeweller, Natasha Kutrovacz of Anonoma Jewellery. Natasha trained in NYC and creates custom jewellery for film and TV, alongside her own designs. The workshop is kept small so you will also receive 1:1 guidance on how to create your specific design. No experience required.

In this 3-hour hands-on workshop you will learn all the skills required to design and create your own bespoke ring using ancient wax carving techniques! This workshop is a perfect opportunity to free your mind, get creative and connect with other like-minded people whilst making a special heirloom. We hold a lot of sentiment in the jewellery we wear. It has the power to transport us, to bring back memories of loved ones and experiences. Hand-making a special heirloom only amplifies this. You can use this time to make the perfect present for a loved one or make a special ring to celebrate yourself.
The workshop will start with a brief intro to the history of lost wax lost casting and casting process (a 14-hour process done in my studio after the workshop), followed by time to look through inspiration, discuss ideas and come up with a design. Once ready with your idea, you will learn how to do some basic drawings, creating a road-map to follow as we begin carving. You will then be led step-by-step through the carving process. I tailer a portion of the workshop to each individual's design, but will also cover the different methods and techniques used in wax carving for lost wax casting. There will be the opportunity to carve, melt, sculpt, cut and shape wax as required by your design.
By the end of the session you will have completed a carving of your ring design as a wax master in jewellers wax only. You can then choose to have your wax ring cast into sterling silver (or gold, if you prefer) and hand polished to your desired finish. This takes about 2-3 weeks.
There will be some exciting optional upgrades available in-class, including gemstone setting, gold plating or engraving to make your ring even more special (available for pre-purchase or to add on the day).
This class is perfect for beginners, however, if you do have experience, I will cater to you and add extra challenges to build on your skills.

✶All tools and materials: 5mm wax ring blanks*, wax files, a selection of carving tools, sandpaper and sanding sticks, fine point engraving tools and safety thimbles for your fingers. *Additional widths available, may cost extra when casting.
