Come and hear the story of Operation Mincemeat and the build up to the Campaigns in Italy, The First Landings in Europe with a Historic Talk from National Vice-Chairman of the Italy Star Association and WW2 Historian & Author Tony Franks-Buckley BSc Hons
Get Ready to experience New Brighton’s rich and hidden history of World War Two. You will learn about The History of Perch Rock, the Bombings of the Blitz, The arrival of the US Army, German Spies in Wallasey, The AA Guns at the Red Noses, The US Army Camps at the Tower Grounds, The Maunsell Forts in the River Mersey, Secret Training at the Outdoor Pool, Local Rationing, The Dig for Victory Campaign, Ladies and their new duties, Evacuation, War Dances at the Tower Ballroom and all the Post War Entertainment of the Seaside Resort
You will be visiting all the old sites and shown photographs on how changes have ocurred from then to now. We will also be covering the Post War Years and the History of the New Brighton Tower and Victorian Times
Following the Tour, you will sit in the Officer’s Mess and Aunty Mo’s Wartime Scouse is available on the Menu or Cream Scones and Jam.
