Ellen’s Co-op Journey———

The journey for me started on June 1, 1989 when I was asked to be a service counsellor in a small “SR2” office in the town of Thamesville. This was under a contract with the agent. At the end of 1990, the agent left and I ran the office alone, until it was closed in 1991. From there, I was hired on in the Chatham corporate office as a service counselor, until it downsized in 1992 – I ended up applying for a role in the Sarnia corporate office and was a service counsellor there until moving into claims in 2001 ( I saw the light ! ). During my interview with the claims supervisor, I was offered a BI level 2 role or a PD level 2 role – I chose BI and have literally never looked back. I was fortunate enough to secure a Level 3 BI role which is by far the most rewarding, fun, and challenging at the same time, but I would have it no other way.. I have especially enjoyed working closely with our vendor lawyers, engineers, surveillance groups and even plaintiff counsel (most of them!). Over the years, I have had multiple supervisors and specialists whom have all been absolutely wonderful. My final comment must go to my work-mates/friends that I have known for almost 36 years – without your support, guidance, assistance, friendship and being able to bounce things off one another - this has been amazing and most appreciated and I will miss you guys the most (you know who you are LOL ). My future plans include spending time with my newborn grand-daughter, and 2 grandsons, golfing, gardening and travelling.
