Each Monday night on the Waldron Stage of Mill Mountain Theatre, the Playwright’s Lab at Hollins University presents a talk by a prominent working professional theatre artist. This week's guest is: Uma Incrocci.
Her play To Keep and Bear debuted at the New Ground Theater Festival at the Cleveland Playhouse in June 2024. Her short plays have been performed all around the country, including at the Lanford Wilson New American Play Festival and the Samuel French Off-Off Broadway Festival. Her published shorts include The Oyster, A Hot Brick, and The Vault. She’s been a member of PlayGround’s writing pool for seven years, and also co-wrote the rock musical Mother Eve’s Secret Garden of Sensual Sisterhood (FringeNYC, and Winner, New Jersey Playwrights Contest). For television, she wrote the Hallmark Channel movie “Romance with a Twist,” and co-wrote “Nature of Love,” “A Christmas Carousel,” and “Hats Off to Love.” As an actress, she has performed at the Public Theater, Actors Theater of Louisville, Mill Mountain Theater, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, New Jersey Repertory, and in seven seasons at Connecticut Free Shakespeare. Her TV credits include “Modern Family,” "How To Get Away With Murder,” “Jane The Virgin,” and "Lipstick Jungle.” Uma was born in India, grew up in Italy, and is a graduate of Pomona College.
