Get ready, Wakefield — Threeway is coming, and they’re bringing 20 years of musical telepathy with them. This isn’t your average jazz trio: Steve Waterman (trumpet/flugelhorn), Steve Lodder (piano/keys), and Ben Crosland (bass) have been finishing each other’s musical sentences since 2004 — and still haven’t run out of things to say.
With four critically acclaimed albums and plenty of radio love (BBC Radio 3, Jazz FM — no big deal), Threeway serve up original tunes that are fresh, melodic, and just the right amount of mischievous. Expect toe-tapping grooves, clever twists, and that magical mind-reading thing they do on stage. Come for the jazz, stay for the musical bromance.
Support set from Mira Bolshakova Quartet:
Belarusian-born vocalist Mira Bolshakova leads the ensemble with her expressive voice shaped by classical, soul and cool jazz traditions. Ollie (piano) brings elegance and inventiveness inspired by the golden era of jazz. Nick (double bass), from Brazil, contributes over two decades of professional experience and a distinctive musical vision. Kye (drums), a versatile London-born musician, anchors the quartet with a spacious sense of rhythm and stylistic freedom. Instagram: @mbjazzquartet
