No need to prepare anything for auditions!

Auditions will begin with group warmups, followed by a series of improvised scenes and games, and a solo murder confession monologue from each actor.

These are open auditions and improvisers of all levels are encouraged to attend. Feel free to attend both days of auditions for fun and experience!

This is a fully improvised Mainstage show. We’re looking for 7-8 strong actors and improvisers who are excited to inspire their fellow players, engage the audience, and create a compelling story. Ideally some cast members should be comfortable with stage intimacy, and some cast members should be comfortable with stage combat.

Please email aW5mbyB8IHRoZWNvbnRlbXBvcmFyeXRoZWF0ZXIgISBjb20= to sign up.

All adult actors in these productions will receive a stipend. No youth roles available at this time. At the CTC we proudly employ and embrace non-traditional as well as color-conscious casting. Actors of Color are particularly encouraged to audition!

This year’s theme is: Shipwrecked!

Somewhere off the coast of England in 1812, a ship carrying a colorful variety of passengers from around the globe crashes on a cold and stormy barren island.

As the sun dips below the horizon, our survivors' tensions mount, and secrets of a doomed voyage come to a head, their lanterns are blown out! When the lights are lit again it is revealed that one of our crew has been murdered! And next to the corpse… a clue.
Will the remaining survivors find out who amongst their dwindling ranks is a murderer? Will the villainous murderer K*ll again? Will our passengers make it off the island, or does fate have something else in store?

Important Information

Content:
This show is fully improvised, so we do not know exactly what kind of sensitive content may be present in each show, and though we aim to be around the PG 13 range there still may be some more content to be aware of. Themes that may come up include drug use, sexual implications, lying, drinking, onstage fights, violence, and of course murder. Good to keep in mind, though we will of course work together as a cast to make sure everyone is excited and comfortable with the sensitivities in each show!

Structure:
The structure of the show is two acts: the first act we will work to introduce characters, relationships, secrets, and backgrounds, until the last five minutes or so, in which it will be chosen in the moment by the actors who are going to be murdered. There will be a very brief scene after the body is discovered to close out act one, and set up act 2.

Act 2 is seeing the emotional impact of the murder, trying to find out who the killer is, following the clue to find the truth, and elaborating and concluding plots brought up in act one, until eventually in the moment an actor will reveal that they are the murderer! They will confess why and how it was done, and the show makes its way to closing.

Rehearsals:
Through rehearsals we will work on feeling secure in the structure and technicalities of the show, creating and fostering a cast that is excited to inspire each other and work together to find the narrative, as well as creating compelling characters, relationships, and plots.

Rehearsals will likely be once a week and developed according to actor availability.
