This professional learning series introduces world language educators to the essential components of generative AI literacy, with a focus on responsible and ethical integration in language teaching. Participants will explore what generative AI literacy means in the context of their professional roles, drawing from existing frameworks and adapting them to the needs of language education. Through collaborative discussions, participants will co-construct the scope of generative AI literacy and examine it across multiple dimensions. The series also engages participants in designing meaningful tasks that foster their students’ AI literacy, emphasizing real-world applications. Participants will identify, create and share examples of AI-integrated classroom practices, reflect on their current pedagogical approaches, and apply a design template to develop their own AI-enhanced language tasks. By the end of this series, participants will be equipped to articulate responsible AI use policies and intentionally support students’ development of AI literacy through language learning.
*Participants should have access to a computer device to participate in these hands-on sessions.
