Tour Ready Workshop – Riverina Region
Join us for a free industry workshop exploring how to build stronger, more sustainable touring networks in the Riverina. Presented by renowned saxophonist Matt Keegan, trumpet player Nick Garbett, and guitarist Hilary Geddes, as part of SIMA’s Tour Ready initiative, with support from MusicNSW and hosted by the Riverina Conservatorium of Music, this session brings together musicians, presenters, educators, and local stakeholders to discuss the unique challenges and opportunities of touring in NSW.
This workshop will focus on:
🎶 Developing regular touring routes and performance opportunities for contemporary jazz and improvised music across the region
🎶 Strengthening connections with local venues, presenters, and institutions like regional Conservatoriums
🎶 Strategies for engaging local audiences, including younger and more diverse communities
🎶 Exploring ways to include regional artists and students as opening acts or workshop participants
🎶 Navigating travel and accommodation costs, funding pathways, and lead times
🎶 Equity, safety, and representation in touring practice
The Riverina workshop builds on similar sessions held in Bellingen, Gosford, Kiama, and Sydney, and will contribute directly to SIMA’s final Tour Ready report, which aims to shape inclusive and connected touring pathways across NSW.
