DESCRIPTION: Located just off of La Salle Avenue, Oakwood Cemetery has served as a place of serenity and memory since 1878. Join Waco Walks December 6th for a walk around the beautiful cemetery grounds with a focus on learning about Waco women whose lives were full of activity before coming to Oakwood for their eternal rest. Our tour guides will be students from a Baylor English class on women writers called “Embodied Natures.” Our path will highlight 10 notable women of Waco who are buried at Oakwood. Meet up at 9:30, December 6 at Oakwood Cemetery, 2124 S. 5th Street.

ACCESSIBILITY: Oakwood has a variety of terrain from paved roads to uneven grass patches. Oakwood’s lots are on raised grass lawns with curbs separating them from the dividing streets.
HYDRATION: Please bring your own water. Drinking fountains are not available within the cemetery.
DOGS: Dogs welcome, but they MUST be on a leash, and you MUST scoop the poop!
WEATHER/CANCELLATION PLAN: We plan to walk rain or shine, so if it looks like rain, bring an umbrella. Due to the high amount of grass along the route, if it has rained previously, we recommend wearing shoes to account for this. In the event that there is a terrible storm or something happens and we have to cancel, we will send out a note to the email list. To subscribe to the email list, click here:
